WASHINGTON (Gray DC) - The Poppy Wall is back on the National Mall in Washington to honor more than 600,000 American service members who have died in combat since World War I.

Hosted by the financial services company USAA, the wall has more than 600,000 poppies, one for each fallen service member.

The company's President and CEO, Juan Andrade, said the wall should remind everyone Memorial Day is about the men and women who've made the ultimate sacrifice defending American freedom.

"When I see this wall, to me, this is about the sacrifice that each of these individuals made. The families they left behind, the lives that they could not lead. And they did it to preserve our freedoms. That's what it means to me," he said.

The wall will be on display through Sunday, May 25.

It's part of the Memorial Day events in the nation's capital, which include a concert, parade, and formal events, including the laying of wreaths at Arlington National Cemetery.
