Sean Rueter has been thinking too much about pro wrestling since at least WrestleMania I, and blogging about it for SBNation & Cageside Seats since around WrestleMania 28.
The Hardys successfully defended their TNA Tag Team titles against NXT Tag champs Fraxiom this past Tuesday (Mar. 11) at WWE's Roadblock show in New York City. Both teams immediately started talking rematch, with hints that Matt & Jeff Hardy could be challenging for Nathan Frazer & Axiom's NXT belts in round two.
But in the latest edition of his The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast, after praising the NXT champs and marveling particularly about their speed in the ring, Matt Hardy made it sound like that rematch won't be happening right away:
"I do think we would want to run it back. As of right now, our little run with NXT is wrapped. We do have some stuff on our schedule to do with WWE a little later down the road. Nothing specifically with NXT yet but... just stuff. I'm gonna leave it at that right now. We have stuff lined up with WWE so..."
Matt's co-host Jon Alba pressed the elder Hardy brother for details, but didn't get very far. The sometimes broken one teased:
"Just stuff, I'm going to leave it at that right now. We have stuff lined up with WWE."
Reports indicated that WWE was interested in having Matt & Jeff doing something on the main roster this summer, and Matt's talked about their time in NXT as a way for the company to "kind of see where Jeff was" after the controversial end of his last stint with the company, and the latest addiction-fueled legal issue that derailed the Hardys' AEW run.
