"They're Awesome Rumors": Sadie Sink Adds Fuel To the Fire of What Character She's Playing in 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day'

Less than 24 hours after Marvel announced delays to both Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars, another major MCU tentpole just webbed up a new update. Another MCU movie due to begin production this summer in London is Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which will see Tom Holland reprise his role as Peter Parker for the fourth time in a solo film. Zendaya is expected to reprise her role as MJ alongside him, and it's also been reported that Stranger Things veteran Sadie Sink, who plays Max Mayfield in the Netflix sci-fi series, will star in Spider-Man 4. Details about Sink's role are being kept under wraps, but Deadline reports that the "best money" is her playing Mayday Parker, daughter of Peter and MJ. Sink also played coy when asked about her role in the film:

"I see a lot of rumors too. They've been really cool. I love the Marvel universe. I mean, they're awesome rumors."

This raises a few questions about what exactly Spider-Man: Brand New Day is going to be. If Sink is indeed playing a version of Mayday Parker that's the daughter of Tom Holland's Peter Parker, there is going to have to be some time-travel shenanigans present in the film. Holland's Peter Parker was just graduating from high school last we saw him in Spider-Man: No Way Home, and nowhere near having a daughter Sink's age. It's also possible that Sink could be playing a version of Mayday Parker who's the daughter of Tobey Maguire's Peter Parker. He mentions in No Way Home that he worked things out with MJ (Kirsten Dunst), and if they had a daughter, it would make sense for her to show up to connect strings to No Way Home without Maguire having to appear again.

'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' Now Comes Out After 'Avengers: Doomsday' Close

Before the recent string of delays, Avengers: Doomsday was going to be released at the start of May, with Secret Wars almost exactly a year later. Doomsday will now hit theaters one week before Christmas on December 18, 2026, with Secret Wars coming on December 17, 2026. Now that Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be released before Avengers: Doomsday, this likely means the story is going to be different from what we thought a few weeks ago. If Brand New Day is the last film before Doomsday -- and it looks like it's going to be -- there is certainly going to be some added explaining to do before the MCU's first Avengers film of the Multiverse Saga.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be released in theaters on July 31, 2026. Stay tuned to Collider for more updates and coverage of the film.
